(2/2) (Continued from previous post) … And so, I (2/2) (Continued from previous post) … And so, I’d love to share with you where my mind has been. I can’t stop longing for: - Creating more pre-made brand kits. - Surface pattern design. I designed and launched my beautiful surface pattern design website earlier this year, but neglected to prioritise it, and it fell by the wayside. - My Ambience channel @balmycove. My heart-led project that began more than three years ago still has me hooked, and I’m proud of the community I’ve built there and the people that I am helping around the world to relax, rest and sleep. - My first love: typesetting, book design and layout. I’d love to take on more book design and typesetting projects, including book cover design and longer publications. I also still very much enjoy the graphic design work I do, and perhaps even moreso, the relationships I have with my beautiful clients. So that’s not going anywhere. But: Surprisingly, there’s a bit of a revelation here. 🤯 Did you notice anything I haven’t mentioned yet? It’s the two services I’ve had at the forefront of my business — custom branding and website design. And yet, as I reflect, I realise that they don’t feel as central to my creative passion right now, even though they’ve been the core of my business until this point. This has left me wondering: How do I want to move forward? For now, I’m sitting with these feelings to see what emerges. I may choose to scale back or take a break from these services, but I’m not rushing the decision. I’d love for you to join me on this journey of rediscovery as I navigate where my heart and creativity are taking me next. Random Instagram Stories content included! 🫶
(1/2) During my run today, I reflected on the fact (1/2) During my run today, I reflected on the fact that I probably didn’t get out for a run all winter. I leaned in to the season and went into full hibernation mode — social media content included. I also stopped sending my newsletter. As a result, my energy levels suffered, and so did my cognition and motivation. I have been calling it burnout, but it could probably also be identified as a depressive episode. Let’s normalise talking about it. I had been doing some shadow work for some heavy things prior to that, so understandably my self needed to retreat and recover for a little while. I’m so proud of her. Thankfully, I have come out on the other side, feeling as though I have experienced a shift. A shift in several things, that were silently and stoically working together. And for this reason alone, I am very grateful for this period of burnout. As I reflect on the past few months, I’ve discovered that I have a clearer vision about where I want to direct my creative pursuits, and a clearer vision of what no longer fits. Perhaps more importantly, greater confidence to actually proceed with this vision. For what is a vision, without action? I’ve made lists of ‘do more’ and ‘do less’ and thought deeply about my values and goals. If overthinking and introspection were an Olympic sport this year, I would have made Australia proud! And so, I’d love to share with you where my mind has been. (Continued on the next post…)

I could spend every day in an art gallery. It was I could spend every day in an art gallery. It was very special to see the Alphonse Mucha exhibition at the Art Gallery of NSW, currently showing in the Naala Badu (North building), before heading to the south building to revisit the Grand Courts (artworks from 1400-1900s) and explore some 20th Century artworks from both Australian and international artists. Ran out of time (energy, really; my fav almond croissant and chai latte was calling out to me from across the city and the gallery was getting pretty busy thanks to the annual Archibald, Wynne and Sulman prizes), so I walked back into the city for some treats before escaping back to my hotel room just in time to avoid the craziness of the Free Palestine protests and march (regular Saturday in the CBD these days). Alphonse Mucha is one of the few artists who shaped my aesthetic and love for curvilinear line work, so it was amazing to see some of the works I studied in person. There were so many incredible works, but I have to mention his Portrait of Jaroslava (c1925)- the soft pastel colours with shimmering gold accents was so ethereal to see in person. Much like Van Gogh’s ‘Sunflowers’, no reproduction can match its original. Listen to me bang on about art 😂 If you’re interested, you can tour with me on my Stories for many more photos 🙃 Anyway, I feel well rested and my creative cup is full. Can’t say I’m ready to leave room service and this delicious hotel bed at the @sheratongrandsydney but I suppose my kiddos need mama to come home at some point 🥰

It is absolutely incredible to see a beloved proje It is absolutely incredible to see a beloved project come to life for @yfcaus. The Nature of Truth and Beauty: Timeless Instructions on Femininity and the Education of Daughters is the centrepiece of a three-book set I designed and typeset for Youth for Christ CEO and editor @cindymcgarvie. Accompanied by an equally beautiful prayer book and journal (currently available via preorder), this project was close to my heart as it allowed my classicism-style creativity to shine. Plus, as a Christian mother of three daughters, it goes without saying that the content is incredibly inspiring. Our goal was to design a timeless keepsake for women of all ages to pass through the generations. From the debossed gold foil linen cover, to the interior endpaper design and graphic elements throughout, each page was typeset with love and attention to detail. I think we’ve successfully created a treasure, and I’m proud to have been a part of this beautiful project. A special thanks too, to @coraliestowinteriors for recommending me for this project ❤️
